Summer Opportunity with Eagle Feather News
INCA is offering a bursary-supported Spring/Summer internship in journalism and strategic communications with Eagle Feather News. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer with a general interest in the media, including social media, audio production and video. Duties will include telephone outreach to First Nations to build community contacts, creating video shorts for social media, writing news stories and potentially producing short news videos or podcasts. Through these activities, the intern will be mentored in fundamentals of print and AV storytelling, and will have opportunities to build a portfolio.
The successful applicant will be expected to complete 150-200 hours at the equivalent of $20/hour between May and September, located in Regina, with the start-date and weekly hours to be negotiated with the managing editor.
To be eligible for this opportunity, the applicant must be enrolled in the Indigenous Communication Arts certificate or diploma program, and cannot be a prior recipient of an Emerging Journalists Bursary. Students may choose to undertake the internship for course credit, if they have not previously completed INCA 290 (INCA internship).
